I grew up in Ft Myers, Florida and attended
middle school and high school at Cypress Lake. My parents met in Ft Myers,
Florida twenty-six years ago. They both happened to be on vacation, my mother
was living in Houma, Louisiana, and my father was living in a small town
in Ohio called Troy. Growing up in Louisiana made my mother Cajun to
the bone! We love to have seafood boils and getting together to eat and
celebrate being a family! I take great pride in being very close with both of
my parents. My mother is truly one of my best friends and has taught me how to
be a strong woman and always stick up for what I believe in.
I have one sibling, an
identical twin sister, Carol. I feel that she knows me better than anyone ever
could and she is someone who I know I can always rely on. Growing up we were
total opposites, I believe that happened because from the day we were born we
were always being compared to one another. Now that we are adults we realize
how alike we really are and embrace it instead of pushing it away. I am
fortunate to live only ten minutes away from her and get to see her on a
regular basis!
My whole life changed
when I was nineteen years old and met my fiance Matt. Six months later we found
out we were pregnant with our daughter Alexis, I really felt like my entire
world had just been flipped upside. I didn't know if I was ready to be a mother
or ready to give up my life as a young adult. All of my doubts went away when
the doctor placed my daughter in my arms on January 21, 2009. Alexis has made
me into the person I am today. My life has been changed in so many wonderful
ways that it is hard to put into writing. Four years later she is the sweetest
and funniest little girl I have ever met! My fiance and I just bought our first
home in Cape Coral in February. So many people we know said we were too young
to make it work and it feels like such a great accomplishment to see how far we
have come!
